The Northern Lights, also known as The Aurora Borealis

No guarantee can be given but some weeks, you are lavished with fantastic displays, repeated many times during the whole evening. Other times, it snows densely, or the northern lights simply stay away. Naturally, the longer you stay in Nyksund and the more time you set aside, the bigger the chances.

Here in Nyksund we are situated right in the middle of the Aurora Borealis. We can increase your chances to view the Northern Lights as we have very little light pollution. We don’t have many street lights at all and we believe we offer the best views in the whole of the Vesterålen.

We can’t guarantee the Northern Lights but we can guarantee fantastic night time views of many different colours. Here on the Vesterålen we have very clear air and it’s possible to see objects much clearer than in many other places. It’s difficult to describe, but we think you will love it.
